In dit artikel in European Journal of Work and Organizational Psychology onderzoeken Paul Preenen, Annelies van Vianen en Irene de Pater de relatie tussen goal-orientations en uitdagende taken. Zij onderzochten wat voor invloed de goal orientations van werknemers hadden op de hoeveelheid uitdagende taken die zij uitvoerden. Ook werd gekeken of de goal orientations van hun leidinggevende invloed hadden op de hoeveelheid uitdagende taken die zij aan hun werknemers gaven.<\/span><\/span><\/span><span>&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span>Theorie<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span>Uitdagende taken zijn nieuwe, veeleisende, en stimulerende taken die veel vaardigheden en doortastendheid vereisen. Uitdagende taken zijn van belang voor de carri&egrave;res en prestaties van werknemers. Goal orientations betreft de soort doelen die werknemers nastreven op hun werk. <strong>&nbsp;<\/strong>Werknemers met een master-approach orientation zouden wellicht liever uitdagende taken aan willen gaan zodat ze hun competenties en vaardigheden kunnen ontwikkelen.<\/span><strong><span>&nbsp;<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span>Vaak bepaalt de leidinggevende welke&nbsp; typen taken een werknemer krijgt opgedragen. Wanneer de leidinggevende de taken verdeelt, &nbsp;speelt de goal orientation van deze supervisor wellicht ook een rol. Leidinggevende met een master-approach zouden uitdagende taken wellicht liever zelf aan willen gaan, terwijl begeleiders met een performance-avoidance orientation deze wellicht liever uit handen geven. <\/p>\n<p> <\/span><span><span><span><strong>Methode<br \/> <\/strong>Goal orientation, de hoeveelheid uitdagende taken en de hoeveelheid invloed die leidinggevenden hebben op het werk werd gemeten met drie vragenlijsten die door werknemers en leidinggevenden werden ingevuld.<\/p>\n<p> <\/span><\/span><\/span><span><span><span><strong>Conclusie<br \/> <\/strong>De resultaten laten zien dat werknemers met een hogere master-approach goal orientation meer uitdagendere taken uitvoeren. Zoals voorspeld gaven leidinggevende met een performance approach goal orientation minder uitdagende taken aan hun werknemers dan leidinggevende met een performance-avoidance goal orientation. Hieruit blijkt dat de goal-orientations van werknemers, en hun leidinggevende, invloed hebben op de hoeveelheid uitdagende taken die zij uitvoeren.
