Dit artikel in Career Development International beschrijft het onderzoek van TNO\/UVA door Paul Preenen, Sarike Verbiest, Annelies van Vianen en Ellen van Wijk. In dit artikel betogen zij dat de invloed van carri&egrave;re plannen en zelfpresentatie op informeel leren, gemedieerd wordt door uitdagend werk. Dit mediatie model werd getoetst op een sample van 722 uitzendkrachten die laaggeschoold werk uitvoeren. De resultaten ondersteunen hun model.<\/span><\/span><span>&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Als gevolg van de economische crisis zijn uitzendkrachten kwetsbaarder geworden. Het is moeilijker dan voorheen voor uitzendkrachten om een vaste baan te vinden. Uitzendbureaus investeren weinig in het trainen of opleiden van hun uitzendkrachten. Vooral de laag opgeleide uitzendkrachten lijden hieronder. Ze moeten nieuwe vaardigheden leren om in hun carri&egrave;re vooruit te kunnen komen. Omdat er weinig ge&iuml;nvesteerd wordt in hun opleidingen moeten uitzendkrachten het vooral hebben van &lsquo;informeel leren&rsquo;; het leren van nieuwe vaardigheden tijdens het werk zelf. In dit artikel wordt onderzocht hoe uitdagende functies, het plannen van een carri&egrave;re, en zelfpresentatie bijdragen aan informeel leren.<\/span><span>&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span>Theorie<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span>Wanneer het werk uitdagend is hebben uitzendkrachten meer de kans om kennis op te doen en nieuwe vaardigheden te ontwikkelen. Uitdagend werk is werk dat nieuw is, nieuwe vaardigheden vereist, iemands vaardigheden op de proef stelt, en een grote hoeveelheid vrijheid en verantwoordelijkheid met zich meedraagt. Uitzendkrachten die hun carri&egrave;re plannen en\/of zichzelf presenteren hebben wellicht ook een grotere kans om uitdagendere taken toegewezen te krijgen. Uitzendkrachten die hun carri&egrave;re plannen zullen meer op zoek gaan naar uitdagende taken, en wanneer een werkgever de beste kandidaat voor een uitdagende opdracht zoekt is het waarschijnlijker dat deze een uitzendkracht kiest die zijn vaardigheden goed presenteert. Hierdoor zou carri&egrave;re plannen en zelfpresentatie via uitdagender werk tot meer informeel leren leiden.&nbsp;<\/span><span>&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span>Onderzoeksvragen<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span>Leiden carri&egrave;replanning, zelfpresentatie en uitdagend werk tot meer informeel leren? Leidt carri&egrave;replanning en zelfpresentatie tot uitdagender werk, en leidt dit indirect tot meer informeel leren?<\/span><strong><span>&nbsp;<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span>Resultaten<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span>Uit de analyses blijkt dat carri&egrave;replanning en uitdagend werk een positieve invloed hebben op informeel leren. Voor zelfpresentatie en informeel leren werd een licht verband gevonden. Zowel carri&egrave;replanning als zelfpresentatie leiden tot functies en opdrachten met meer uitdaging, leer- en ontwikkelingsmogelijkheden.
