Leidinggevenden moeten hun mensen inspireren en gebruik maken van hun capaciteiten om tot creatieve oplossingen te komen.<\/p>\n<p>Managers functioneren nog te vaak onder het &lsquo;command-and-controlprincipe&rsquo; en besteden te weinig aandacht aan oplossingen vanaf de werkvloer: idee&euml;n die kunnen leiden tot praktische verbeteringen. Gebruik maken van de kennis van het personeel vraagt dan ook om een geheel andere vorm van leidinggeven. Er dient een cultuur te ontstaan waarin ruimte is voor ontwikkeling, teamwork en gezamenlijk probleemoplossend werken.<\/p>\n<p>Hoewel er voorbeelden zijn van slimmer werken in Ierland, blijkt uit onderzoek van het Ierse NCPP dat de opvattingen hierover bij veel bedrijven verschillen tussen werknemers en leidinggevenden. Werken aan innovatie-stimulerend leiderschap moet volgende de auteur dan ook op de nationale agenda komen.
